Practice & Experience

This is NOT my first rodeo riding out tough economic times - I am here for you. I work with my clients on my fees. Thank you for your trust and support. I pray for blessings of health and prosperity for you and your family despite what is going on.

2023 tax season is done and I am preparing for the 2024 Tax Season!! Don't wait until the last minute to get your tax affairs in order for next tax season. Check out my Checklists and Forms page for my checklist of documents needed to prepare your tax return. I use online meetings apps, facetime app, phone conversations, face-to-face conversations based on our comfort levels. You can mail or securely send your tax info to me. I can work on your tax return and within a week or so (depending on if you give me all the needed documents and on my workload at the time) advise you of a result.

To be prepared for tax seasons, I read numerous tax articles and participate in hours of tax trainings/seminars. I also continually review my security measures to best protect your information such as: using secure software online and on my computers, changing my passwords regularly, backing up your information via offline measures, password-protecting electronic files, and more. I offer tax planning services to help you with tax estimates and to help you navigate the taxability of life events. I also offer budget consulting.

The interests of my clients are of my primary concern and I will consider all deductions, credits, and circumstances in preparing your tax return and bookkeeping. I do my best to give every client individual and personalized attention. I try to get to know my clients beyond their financials, which helps me to provide more than financial professional support during life's toughest circumstances and changes.

Keep in mind that I applied much of my professional/real-world financial knowledge and experience in my own life: to be able to afford life in NJ even as a single mother, finish my master's degree, cope with divorce, rebound from my own economic crisis, avoid bankruptcy with large amounts of debt, job loss, finally establishing my own businesses, and coaching my musician husband in establishing his own business.

My Bio

I was raised in a single-mother home, so I was forced to be independent to succeed.  My studies kept me out of trouble while living in a low-moderate income part of Jersey City, New Jersey from 1981-2007 (before the gentrification of Jersey City, NJ).  During my school years, I spent many nights at the public library using their free encyclopedias, other reference materials, and their computer, since I could not afford my own until college.  I also often picked the brain of the librarian, which helped me learn how to communicate, ask questions, and obtain my goals, such as a completed report, science project, term paper, and more. This became the foundation of my investigative nature and being able to talk with people. I love school, mostly for the learning process. I tested into Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School, where I enjoyed learning in a free public school, but it was run like a costly private school. Generally, Academic students appreciate a great education and the teachers looked forward to teaching there, inspiring the students to be their best. Academic High School has consistently ranked high both statewide and nationally. Most Academic students have moved on to pursue their college degrees and have become successful professionals, helping the communities in which we live. I also learned how to navigate in and out of my diverse peers at school, be involved, making friends with an array of different backgrounds, ethnic cultures, and religions along the way.

Right out of high school, I attended Stevens Institute of Technology and majored in Engineering since I excelled in math and problem-solving; however, I was getting sick with the stress and I found that Engineering was not for me so I worked other jobs until I found what interested me. My first bank job helped me realize that I enjoyed utilizing my math and problem-solving strengths in money-related issues. I saw that money-math was more pressing and relevant for the day-to-day, I could help people, earn a decent living, and stay where I lived to raise my son and have a family. The subject of Economics began to fascinate me and still does.

In 2006, I earned a BA in Accounting from Saint Leo University, and in late 2012, I earned a Master's of Science in Accountancy degree from Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey.  I am currently studying to sit for my CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam.

As I was working towards my BA and Master's degrees in Accounting, I applied what I learned while employed at a handful of companies, including Bank of New York, Morgan Stanley, and The Provident Bank of New Jersey.  From 1997 - 2012, my work background enabled me to get here.

After being let go from my banking job early in 2012 (still dealing with the Great Recession's impact), I saw this as an opportunity to work towards my dream job: Accounting/Auditing/Tax and my own business- it was a good thing that I was almost done with my Master’s Degree in Accounting at the time!

Since 2013, I have been working at the State of New Jersey as a (non-tax) auditor*.

Via years working in the banking, financial, customer service, accounting, auditing, and tax industries, and my own financial trials (personal and professional), I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience. I am very skillful at handling tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial statements, financial analysis, customer service issues, financial transactions, budgeting, debt management & counseling, etc. I look forward to applying all this experience and knowledge to help you.

Thank you.
